Alarm ringing, crusty eyes, dog barking to go outside, and you have 15 minutes to leave for work. You stumble to the closet, push past the mountain of shoes and the “not-clean-not-dirty” pile of laundry, and pull out a wrinkled top that was shoved between jackets and jeans. Where are those nice black pants? Did I wear this top this week already? What is this stain?!

You think to yourself, I can’t wait to move into my new home with my new walk-in closet so I can FINALLY get organized! These tips along with our spacious closets will help you start your mornings off right in your new home!

Out with the old, in with the new! Declutter your closet before your move, donating anything that doesn’t fit or no longer works for your lifestyle. If you struggle to let go of clothes, check out “Tidying Up with Marie Kondo” on Netflix to learn the Konmari Method!

Still using bulky plastic hangers? Add fabric hangers to your moving Wishlist! They hold on to your clothes better and take up less space. Then, create sections for your clothes. Suits here, skirts there, tops to the side. Give every piece a home.

Maximize your closet space! Use the vertical space in your closet efficiently with hanging fabric shelves and shoe organizers. You can use the hanging shelves to store accessories, sweaters, and anything you don’t want to put on a hanger! Store bulky or out-of-season clothing in containers and store them on a shelf or in the back of your closet.

Now that you’ve doubled, or even TRIPLED your closet space, it’s time to go shopping!
