We love a challenge, and there’s no denying it. One of the biggest challenges in our business process is finding that perfect piece of land, determining exactly what would be best to build there, and then communicating that to the proper people and gaining support. Lucky for us, we’re pretty good at it! (Although really, it’s not luck, it’s the knowledge and experience of the team we have in place.)

We have projects in the works from the beautiful rolling hills of Staunton, VA, to the serenity of Camden, NC, and many spots in between. Take a look below at some of the projects we have waiting in the wings.

Gateway Apartments | Chesterfield, VA

Right in the heart of Chesterfield, VA, a brand new luxury apartment community will be popping up. South of the James River, in a prime location central to Downtown Richmond and the West End, is the future site of 245 studio, 1, & 2 bedroom apartment homes on Gateway Centre Parkway. Built-in a modern and sustainable style and finished with high-end touches, these walk-up apartment homes will offer between 647 – 1280 sq. ft. of living space. If you love being in the center of it all and having a great place to unwind, this community is for you.

Pedestrian pathways will surround these three-story buildings. Other community amenities will be a dog park, a central clubhouse with a pool, fitness, and more! Delivering great neighborhood accessibility and design, you can expect to see construction begin sometime in 2022.

Charter Colony Apartments | Midlothian, VA

Conveniently located steps from Brightpoint Community College (Formerly, John Tyler Community College) in Midlothian, Marcella at Charter Colony will consist of 245 1 & 2 bedroom luxury apartment homes and 10,000 sq. ft. of commercial space. Right off 288, you’ll have easy access to Downtown Richmond, Short Pump in the West End, and Midlothian.

Marcella at Charter Colony will mimic the style of the facilities at Brightpoint Community College. You’ll have the convenience of luxury amenities like a saltwater pool and rentable clubhouse, as well as luxury interior features, built to be energy efficient and sustainable. With direct access to campus, our partnership is expected to enliven the campus, their students, and their staff. You can expect construction to begin towards the end of 2023.

Camden Plantation

Envision a town within a town blending the history of Camden County and Coastal North Carolina with modern conveniences. We’re providing a sense of openness without maintenance and delivering a combination of amenities and facilities unique to the region. Destined to be Camden County’s first-ever, premier master-planned community, Camden Plantation has begun.

We’re just getting started on this amazing mixed-use community of homes, townhomes, apartments, and condos with southern charm built right in. Camden Plantation will take 15-20 years to build, but boy, will it be worth it! It won’t be just a place to live, but also enjoy living! An 18 hole golf course, huge lap pool, clubhouse for entertainment & fitness, tennis, playground, and walking trails are just some of the amazing amenities here for you. Business, retail, & offices will also be within Camden Plantation. Boyd Homes is building an entire community you won’t want to miss.

The first phase of development will begin in 2021 and is quite extensive, as it includes the stormwater systems for the first half of the community. The first phase is quite extensive and will include 109 lots and a clubhouse, pool, other amenities, and the first 9 holes of the golf course. The golf course will take about another year or so to accommodate the establishment of turf. Once started, development work on the first phase will take 12-18 months, and then we can start home construction.

We have been speaking with several builders who have shown interest. Boyd Homes is also expected to be offering homes, but the exact plans and prices have not yet been established. We plan to have multiple builders from which to choose.

The Villages at Vista Ridge | Staunton, VA

Scenic homesites nestled in the hills surrounding Staunton, VA, set the stage for this beautiful, mixed-use neighborhood. Distinctive homes of genuine character, each with their own unique personality, will merely be the start to the Villages at Vista Ridge. 
 
The Villages at Vista Ridge will comprise three different components; 85 detached single-family homes, 270 attached single-family homes (townhomes), and 400 apartments. 
 
While it’s always possible for specific details to change, we’re currently planning on separate amenities for the single-family homes and the apartments. These amenities will include stunning salt-water pools with a clubhouse and outdoor grilling areas. We’re also planning on creating walking trails and a spacious doggie park to allow our neighbors to enjoy the amazing setting that is Vista Ridge.

Liberty Landing | New Kent, VA

Liberty Landing, a community meant to evoke an image of a village that evolved, is situated just off Pocahontas Trail in beautiful New Kent, VA. It will be a town within a town with a commercial component to cater to the community’s needs. 
 
The community will feature single-family, attached townhomes, and apartments, from studios to 1 & 2 bedrooms. A courtyard urban-style design will be utilized for the apartments, having recreational amenities in the open-air courtyards. Varying facades and materials on the townhomes and dedicated driveways will promote the image and feeling of individual homes.
 
The mixed-use village-style community design and the limiting of the unit sizes support the idea of smart growth and lower the traffic impact on the surrounding area. Boyd Homes will also be contributing to the surrounding community by donating land for and building a new fire station.
